• Recent immigrants from various parts of the world
• Individuals affected by DACA
• Individuals in prison or on probation
• People in substance use disorder treatment (drugs/alcohol, for
example)
• Someone who has experienced domestic violence (may be still
in a shelter)
• Leaders in unique positions – e.g., pastoral counselors
• Community mental health agency leaders who can speak on
issues pertaining to your specific culture of interest
• Homeless individuals (at homeless shelters)
• Youth program (residential/non-residential)
• International students (individually or as a group) and those who
work with them
• Individuals with Disabilities (preferably visible)
• Lesbians and/or Gay men
• Transgendered persons
• Other?
2) After choosing a cultural group or a human services program, do the following:
a. Make contact and obtain permission (where applicable) to get involved with
the individual or group. Tell them that you are interested in their culture or
program because you want to work effectively with them or other individuals
from their cultural group in your future.
b. Participate in an experience, as described below, and conduct an interview
with someone from the group, as guided by the questions below
c. Write your report.
