Within my research, I have found that the legal age of Drinking has laws that vary from country to country. For example, in some parts of the European continent, you could drink before the age of 21 while in the US you have to be 21 to drink. Another thing that some states such as Texas have is that you could drink if you are underage but have to company your legal guardian.
2. What do you think should happen regarding your topic? What do you propose?
I think since drinking is the root of the problem we should lower the alcohol level of the drinks; similar to the alcohol percentage in Europe. But what I propose is lowering the age of drinking to 19-20.
3. Why do you think this proposal might be better than others’ ideas?
I believe that my proposal might be better than others’ ideas because there are two sides to the argument. One side is to keep the legal age of drinking to 21 while the other side is lowering the legal age of drinking to 18, “Why can I join the army but not drink” being the repetitive quote that I keep hearing. Since my proposal is lowering the legal age of drinking to 19-20 it satisfies both sides due to it still lowering but also still being a relatively “older” age.
4. What are some actions your classmates could take?
Although this topic is more of a national problem we could still spread awareness and make petitions that could track the attention of governors so they can be the ones changing the laws.”
