Instructions: Your second assignment, a PowerPoint presentation, is due at the end of week four. You will create a PowerPoint presentation based upon ONE of the songs from this website: https://www.azlyrics.com/. The choice of song is up to you. (You do not have to use the songs in the reading list — those are just suggestions.) This PowerPoint will consist of five slides. The first slide will be a general introduction – around three sentences that clarify your song and the basic meaning of that song (New Criticism). After that opening slide, you will focus the next three body slides on three critical lens that align well with your chosen song. Use each of these three critical lenses explained in the week four lesson to interpret your chosen song: one critical lens per slide. In the fifth slide, you will decide which critical lens works best for your chosen song and explain why. The final slide will be your works cited list. Please make sure to read lesson five. However, this video, that explains this assignment in detail, will help as well: https://youtu.be/xkzYmM9RWTA.
Make sure to cite short quotations from the song (required), and include any outside sources if needed (not required). Please make sure that your PowerPoint is 500-800 words (around 100-200 words per slide – the works cited list is not included in the word count). You may include images, if you like. This is not an essay or a speech, so an introduction/thesis/conclusion are not required. However, please be sure to write in a clear academic manner, using third person.
Please remember the following:
Avoid any and all summary sites. This includes Sparknotes, Shmoop, Cliff’s Notes, and Wikipedia.
Avoid first and second person (no I, me, mine, us, our, we, you, and your).
You may not use any wording from previous essays, assignments, or forums.
Make sure your body slides are focused on critical lenses.
Use quotations, but make sure the majority of the presentation comes from your own ideas.
Make sure to use MLA citations
