CONTEXT
This semester you have written about your own personal experience with liminality and read about fictional characters who have been confronted with a variety of liminal situations and challenges.
For this final essay, we’ll be exploring liminality from a wider lens, looking deeper into populations who might find themselves in the psychological process of transitioning across boundaries and borders, who find themselves separated from part of society.
PROMPT
Identify a particular group of people (minority, subculture, age defined, etc) who exist, at least temporarily, “between” social or cultural boundaries and resarch what circumstances contribute to their liminal experience.
You may wish to also discuss particular challenges faced by the individual and/or group in terms of disorientation, social alienation, anxiety, etc.
It may be effective to help your readers understand why it’s important to have an awareness of this groups’ liminal status.
