Here’s a simple example of the SUMPRODUCT() function being used with 2-dimensional arrays: SUMPRODUCT Example with 2D Arrays.xlsx
The most common mistake people make when using SUMPRODUCT() is instead of entering two arrays (ranges) as the arguments of the function, they enter just one range that includes both arrays. Unfortunately, rather than return an ERROR (so the user is made aware of their mistake), SUMPRODUCT() defaults to the second array being all ‘1’s. In effect then, the function in this case simply sums all the entries in the combined array; and the user may not even realize they’ve made a mistake!
