Over the course of the course, you will complete a self-study as you consider your development over the course of your life thus far. Each piece of your self-study will be combined at the end of the course, presenting the ‘Story of Your life from a Developmental Perspective’. You will trace your physical, intellectual, and personality/social/emotional development from conception through adolescence. This may be accomplished in several ways:
You may collect anecdotal records of your past development.
You may collect data from pictures, letters, or home videos/recordings.
You may reflect on your memories of past events.
You may conduct interviews with family and friends.
Please Note: If you cannot find information about your prenatal care and birth, please share what you do know about yourself and these events.
Part 2 of your Self-Study is a one to three page self-reflection describing the following:
Your conception
Your prenatal development and your parent’s experience being pregnant with you
Your birth
Any complications your parents or guardians had at the time and how they dealt with those complications
Family traits and heredity
As you complete Part 2, remember to consider your module readings and include your connections to and citations of course related materials.
