After doing a video recording with a class we are to record ourselves being the counselor in a mock session taking an assessment for drug and or alcohol abuse.
These questions need to be answered
– what worked well?
-what could you have done differently?
-how did you feel throughout the session?
– where did you struggle?
My mock counseling session went well. I have worked with this classmate several times and we work well together.
What I could have done differently was been more professional. I recorded in my backyard. I also had on casual clothes. I should have recorded in more appropriate clothing and in my home office.
I felt comfortable through the session since I have a good repoire with the other student. I did struggle with nith not being neutral during assessment. My ‘client’ was making funny comments and I did react by smiling or laughing at one point. I need to be more neutral.
