Choose one research study on the Maharishi Effect from this week’s readings of ‘The Field Paradigm’. Using information from the book, create a five minute presentation of that study to a hypothetical group of government officials highlighting the results. Use screen shots of charts and graphs to illustrate the findings.
Students will present their research Monday morning and will be assessed for simplicity, clarity, and logic. Use the following as a possible template:
Introduction: The introduction tells the audience the story of the research. ‘The Field Paradigm’ offers excellent background stories for each study.
Methods: Describe the methods used for the study. This will help your audience decide whether the findings are credible. Tell the story of the methods in chronological order when possible.
Results: This is the evidence. Choose the most important and interesting results. You don’t need to present all the results from your study (indeed, you most likely won’t have time to present them all).
Summary: Summarize your main findings. Displaying your main findings through visuals can be effective. Emphasize the new contributions to scientific knowledge that your work makes.
Conclusion: Complete the circle by relating your conclusions to the story in your introduction. It’s important to describe any possible alternative explanations for your findings. You might also speculate on future directions arising from the research. The slides that comprise your conclusion do not need to state “conclusion”. Rather, the concluding slide title should be a declarative sentence linking back to the big picture solution and your main idea.
It’s important to end well by planning a strong closure to your talk, after which you will thank the audience.
*Make sure there is at least one slide on Lebanon
