again and/or the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs
Educators (2015).
Refer to the Advising and Supporting (A/S) competency area
Find THREE articles about current issues related to advising and supporting in student
affairs and higher education. A/S knowledge and skills relates to providing advising and support to individuals and groups. You may engage in advising both formally and
informally through academic advising but you may be advising students in many areas. You may engage in advising groups like fraternities/sororities, student activities, student government, etc. or many other types of groups on college campuses. So your THREE
articles may be about any organizations on campus but must be related to A/S. Or
your THREE articles can deal with advising and supporting students in other ways.
Be sure to follow the directions for writing and posting your articles as instructed in
previous Assignments. For the Discussion Forum post, think about and share the following
two things:
what you learned from your articles
how the content of your articles and understanding and use of the A/S competency will help you in your current or future professional roles in Student Affairs (ACPA/NASPA, 2015; SAHE Handbook, 2021).
