Create a narrated PowerPoint (or other presentation – confirm format with instructor before choosing an alternative) on a Western Medieval philosopher listed between Anselm and Aquinas, but including Aquinas. The presentation should be between 12-15 slides, not counting cover and reference slides. This will challenge not only your critical thinking, but your creativity as well
Here is a link that might help identify some options. This is a large list and it might be difficult to find adequate material on all of them. Note that clicking on most names will reveal a podcast on the individual or something related.
For your chosen philosopher, do the following
Briefly present that person’s history, including some historical context, something happening during and around this person’s life that should have been influential.
Present two or three philosophical theories or positions this person held you find interesting. Be sure to explain why you find these positions/theories interesting
Finally, present the viability of the positions/theories today. Can it be that these theories are still capable of doing what the person intended or explain what the person intended.
Below are a few tips to keep in mind as you craft the presentation:
Proper PPTs have bullet on the slides with explanation of the bullets in the Notes section. Ideally, the notes will contain your transcript. Note, if you cannot do narration for whatever reason, be sure the transcript of what you would have said is in the notes.
DO NOT just read your slides – that is insulting to the person reviewing the presentation unless you know the person is vision impaired.
Only the briefest introduction is needed. consider a bullet list with the information above.
Citations MUST be on the slides or in the notes to justify any references on the “Works Cited” slide(s)
