Describe the analytical methods of two different equipments only for D-Dimer test: TOSOH (AIA 900) and ACL Elite Pro (only these two!)
Some infos: D-dimer levels can be reported in two different units: fibrinogen equivalent units (FEU) and D-dimer units (DDU).
FEU reflects the amount of fibrinogen that was originally present in the fibrin clot that was degraded to form D-dimer, so it reflects fibrinogen content, and values are numerically higher.
DDU represents the actual concentration of D-dimer fragments in the blood, measured directly so it reflects direct D-dimer concentration, used in some regions, and values are numerically lower.
Reference range of both methods!! (with references)
Differences in units (FEU vs. DDU) and assay standardisation mean that results from these systems are not directly interchangeable, so clinicians need to interpret them based on the specific system used.
