We have spent the past 12 weeks discussing Gothic elements in literature. We have also talked about how some of the elements we’ve learned about while reading “classic” Gothic literature can be found in modern literature and film. For this assignment, you will have the chance to research and explain how the Gothic tradition is present in a modern, popular object. You could choose to write about movies, TV shows, food, music, fashion, decor, hair styles, art, or any other aspect of popular culture that interests you. Just make sure you choose something that clearly exhibits elements of the Gothic tradition.
Instructions
Use at least one reliable source to research and gather information about your chosen object. Additional sources are permitted. You may use the source(s) to learn more about your topic and/or to further explore the object’s connection to the Gothic tradition. Make sure you keep track of your source(s) and cite accordingly.
Analyze your chosen object and identify the ways in which Gothic elements appear in or transform this object. I suggest you take detailed notes as you do your analysis.
Organize your observations and identify a main idea or claim you’d like to share. Then, find supporting evidence from your research and your own analysis of the object.
Submit your findings by the deadline.

Quality and focused research of the object; correct citation: 10 points
Clear analysis that includes explanations and findings connecting the object to the Gothic tradition: 20 points
Inclusion of examples and/or descriptions of the object to support main claim: 10 points
