• Include the title of the article, in quotation marks, author’s complete name, author’s thesis, and your thesis (That you generally agree or disagree with the author) in your introduction.
• For each of the two body paragraphs, include one of the author’s premises or key points or main ideas (These are all the same thing!), any specific examples that the author cites in support, your response, and your real or hypothetical examples as original support.
• For the conclusion, quote from the author’s conclusion, and give your response. Again, also provide original support.
• Throughout the essay, always refer to the article in the present tense.
• Avoid the first person “I” at all times except when providing original support (From your own real-life experiences) in the body paragraphs. In other words, don’t write, “I agree with Whitehead because….” Instead avoid the first person “I”, and write, “Whitehead makes a strong argument because…” This way you agree with her thesis, but avoid the first person”I”
