2. Be sure to indicate which essay question you are answering. For example, if you select question “1” for the first exam, indicate this at the top of your essay and then you answer all parts of question “1.” The questions are meant to be very broadly written giving you maximum latitude to answer the question of your choice easily based on the information in the textbook. I am not looking for a specific “right answer.” As long as you can back up your writing with exact quotes from the text, you will be on the right track.
3. The essays are due on the day of the scheduled exams. Essays cannot be submitted in any other way than through the “Blackboard Assignment” window.
4. Each exam essay is to be no more than the equivalent of two typed, double-spaced pages. MLA, APA or any other commonly used academic writing format is acceptable.
At least three exact quotes followed by page numbers from the text are required. If there are no exact quotes (not paraphrasing) no credit will be given for the essay. Example: “Your chosen quote from the textbook typed in quotation marks”, (Author’s last name, page number) Specific example: “According to the text, “Europe……………” (Berger, 421)
A bibliographic entry for the text used is required at the end of the essay. -15 points if this is not included.
