How did the Industrial Revolution affect American culture? What was life like fo

How did the Industrial Revolution affect American culture? What was life like for women, children, African Americans, and
immigrants during this era? Who was Jacob Riis and how did he expose the horrors of factory life and life in the American city?
Write a 3-4 paged paper answering these questions. Your paper must include a thesis statement in paragraph one that outlines
the message for your paper. Your bibliography does not count as one of the required pages. You must highlight your thesis
statement in your final submitted paper so I know which sentence your entire paper will be about.
Include at least (5) scholarly sources that includes 3 Academic Journal Articles, 1 Primary Source, and 1 other source of your
choice.
Formatting:
1-inch margins
Font Times New Roman size 12
3-4 pages max
Double Spaced
Word document (PDFS will not be accepted)
Do not use contractions. Your entire paper must be in past tense and written in third person at all times.
You must include in-text citations in either MLA, APA, or Turabian throughout the assignment including a final bibliography.
Your bibliography must be formatted per the example below (notice the spacing, indentation, etc.). It is critical that you include
in-text citations everywhere you used content from a source. If your assignments in this course are full of in-text citations, I will
know you have done your research. The sources you use to do your research must be scholarly sources. Do not use Wikipedia,
do not use encyclopedias (this includes history.com – this is not a scholarly source), do not use any sources that are not created
by experts in the history field (this means you cannot use blogs – make sure to look at the “Who we are” type tabs for any
websites you use to make sure the author(s) have Masters or PhD degrees in history). To be safe, you can use any Academic
Journal article from the BU website, and you’ll know it is a scholarly source (just do not use encyclopedia pages as those are
included in the library as well). If you have any questions about whether a source is scholarly or not, feel free to email or text it
to me for clarification. If it is not scholarly, I will tell you why as well so you can help learn to spot those.
You must cite all information from a source, not just quotes. Do not use quotes unless they provide power to your paper. If you
do use quotes, I prefer they only be from Primary Sources.
Other details:
Make sure your paper includes your name & a title
Do not include spaces between paragraphs.
Your submitted document must include your name and the name of this assignment.
This paper is due before midnight on Week 4.
How you will be graded:
Your thesis statement is solidly written and was highlighted within your submission – 1 point
You wrote in past-tense and third person the entirety of the paper – 1 point
Submitted assignment is properly named – 1 point
You followed rubric directions in general / used proper grammar & spelling – 2 points
Your analysis – 2 points
