Imagine you received another email from your friend. They have been part of a team for some time and are seeking your advice about how to make decisions, solve problems, and manage a team.

Hey there!
I wanted to thank you for the great advice you have shared about teams these last few weeks. Thanks to your help, I am getting the hang of being on this team and I feel like we are making progress toward our goal.
I think I’m ready to take on a bigger role in the team. I’m not ready to be the leader of the team, but I do want to be a good contributor and help others be more effective team members. What are your thoughts on how I can help improve the team’s performance? What behaviors should I demonstrate that will keep the team on track even when we run into challenges?
I’ve also noticed that our team struggles when we have to make a decision or solve a problem. I’m not sure why, but we can never seem to agree on a plan of action. Do you have any thoughts on strategies or techniques I could use to help the team make decisions more quickly?
Thanks again for all your help and advice. I look forward to your ideas on boosting the team’s performance and improving our decision-making skills.
Best,
Your friend

Review your completed email for clarity. Use the Microsoft Word spelling and grammar checker or grammar tools from the Center for Writing Excellence to check grammar and spelling.

Practice giving credit (i.e., references) to the resource(s) you used at the end of your email. Giving proper credit to your sources builds your credibility with your audience. Don’t worry about perfection. If you make a mistake, your faculty member can help, so please let your faculty member know if you have any questions.
