The paper is 1,750 to 2,500 words in length.
Proper MLA formatting is used,
The introduction must have a clearly stated thesis statement (the first paragraph). Feel free to use a thesis generator if you are unsure: https://writingcenter.uagc.edu/thesis-generator$   $ or https://sunyempire.edu/learning-support/thesis-generator/  Make sure that you proofread and tweak the results as needed.
A “hook,” or attention-grabbing first sentence to introduce your paper.
Body paragraphs that prove (or counter) your thesis claim. If the paragraph is not germane to your thesis, please save it for another research paper.
Body paragraphs flow in an organized and cohesive manner. Transition words facilitate this aspect.
Subheadings are NOT required, but if used, they must be properly formatted.
There is at least one paragraph dedicated to a counterargument, and there is an answer for the counter.
At least four direct quotes from secondary sources are included, and they are properly cited in MLA style. Additionally, the quotes must have your interpretation, context, or comments as to their relevance to your thesis. (A good rule of thumb is one direct quote for every paragraph, except the intro and conclusion paragraphs.)
With very few exceptions, properly formatted in-text citations are in every paragraph—even when paraphrasing or summarizing. (They are not usually necessary in the opening or the closing paragraphs.)
Slang is not used-
The pronoun “you” is not used-
Contractions are not used-
There is noun/verb agreement, and the verb tenses are consistent throughout the paper.
The paper is carefully proofread for spelling, punctuation, grammar, as well as clear and precise syntax.
There is a conclusion that summarizes your evidence and restates your thesis in a different manner than the introduction.
Titles of books, journals, magazines, and newspapers are italicized. Articles, short stories, and titles of poems are in quotation marks.
There are at least three secondary sources on the Works Cited page, and they are alphabetically ordered.
