The first section gave you a good glimpse into what art is about as well as provide context of its relevance in history and within the realm of social and political environment. You may be familiar with some of the works of art before you read about them. I am sure you enjoyed learning why some works of art are iconic, why certain ones have remain relevant to our present day society, and how some works of art have been able to influence change in society or have a strong impact on culture.

For this first journal, you get to choose a FROM CHAPTERS WITHIN SECTION I, choose one (1) artwork from each chapter to talk about and share your thoughts about them. Include the following:
1) What is the Name of the artist, TITLE OF work, and the medium (material that is used or type of work)?
2) A DETAILED DESCRIPTION of the artwork (IN YOUR OWN WORDS, please…)
3) Give a robust discussion of the significance of the work or the impact of the work, as you understand from your reading.
4) Consider the following questions
What you think is the role of the artist in producing this work?
Is the work still relevant in today’s contemporary society? How so?
Can you associate this work with a particular event in your life or to something personal?
Does the work provide a fresh perspective on something you already thought about or had a different belief?
