just do all steps down on the file i sent , thank you
You will be looking for problems that you or people you know experience in daily life and coming up with ideas to solve them, or at least make them a little better. Most people experience small frustrations with the objects and world around us and this is your opportunity to channel that frustration into thinking about possible solutions.
By the end of the TMA you will produce a simple prototype of one of your ideas to show how you envisage your design working. You will keep a record of the problem exploration that you do, the ideas you generate and the process of finding a solution as you complete each step, and this will form the basis of the TMA.
Phase1 :What you will do
Identify 8 design problems in your daily life.
Choose a problem to work on.
Look at existing solutions to the problem and think about how they could be improved.
Frame the problem in two alternative problem statements.
Engage in a discussion about your problem and possible problem statements on the tutor group forum.
Write a brief review of your work in this phase.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
Scans or photographs showing 8 problems identified with annotations detailing your thoughts about the underlying problem.
A brief description (25 words) of each problem to accompany the illustration.
A 150-word summary of three existing solutions and how they could be improved supported by illustrations.
Two problem statements of around 25 words each. One starting “How might ….” and the other “Design a …..”
A 100-word account of the tutor group discussion you had about your problem and problem statements
A 100–150-word review of this phase answering:
What module materials helped you in this phase?
Complete the sentence, ‘If I were to do this week’s work again, I would …
Phase2 :What you will do
Hold a creative session to come up with and choose a solution to your problem. You should use both problem statements and see which one generates the best ideas.
Select and develop a design concept.
Upload your chosen design concept to ODS. You can find the slot by following: My Content > My Work > Block 2 > TMA 02 > My Design Concept.
Write a brief review of your work in this phase.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
A 150-word account of your creative session supported by 2 images of the session in progress including how the session was set up and the idea generation techniques used.
Scans or photos of your sketches of your 8 potential ideas that the creative session generated (up to 25 words per idea).
A 100-word evaluation of your ideas using the 5Ws and 1H questions and a comparison table to support your choice of one idea.
One annotated concept sketch showing your chosen design idea.
A 100–150-word review of this phase answering:
What module materials helped you in this phase?
Complete the sentence, ‘If I were to do this week’s work again, I would …’
Phase3 :What you will do
Develop a prototype design based on the chosen idea. Model the relevant features of your idea and consider how these might work.
Evaluate your prototype’s strengths and weaknesses.
Write a brief review of your work in this phase.
Upload the following to ODS: see below
an image of your prototype to My Content > My Work > Block 2 > TMA 02 > My Design Proposal View 1.
an image of your prototype in use to show how it might work to My Content > My Work > Block 2 > TMA 02 > My Design Proposal View 2.
Description: Outline the points you listed when you evaluated your design proposal. Briefly describe what you would like to do next to develop your project.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
A 100-word account of the making process supported by 8 images showing the making process
Two images of a 3D prototype of your design idea made to show its relevant features or test how these might work
A 150-word description of your prototype and its advantages and disadvantages, saying:
how it would work
how well it provides a solution to your problem statement
how it could be improved
why it is a good design solution
A 100–150-word review of this phase answering:
What module materials helped you in this phase?
Complete the sentence, ‘If I were to do this week’s work again, I would …’
Phase4 :What you will do
You will look back at all of the work you have done for this TMA and evaluate the outcome of your work, your design process and your own personal learning.
Structure your evaluation using the headings: Product, Process and Personal learning. You might find the following prompts useful to guide what you might say:
Product
Were you able to be objective and honest when evaluating your prototype?
Are there any aspects of your design idea you would change if you had more time?
Process
How did you find framing a problem statement?
How did you find working with other people?
Which steps of the design process did you find most useful and which other steps could be improved for future projects.
Which of the practical aspects of TMA 02 did you prefer and why? (e.g. design observation, creative thinking, design prototyping, design evaluation)
Personal learning
Are there aspects of designing you would you like to develop further? Give your reasons for this and think about how might you develop them in future work.
Did you change the way you worked on this design project in response to tutor feedback from TMA 01. If so how effective was this change? If you made no changes, explain why not.
What you will submit
You will add the following to your Compendium map or PowerPoint document:
a 400 word evaluation which considers your end product (your design idea), the design process you went through and what you have learnt
