Project is on the Font…… Bauhaus
Project Goals
You are to research, write, design and deliver a presentation about a typeface chosen from the Fonts 4 Class folder. Your presentation will be in the form of a “slide show” that you will deliver in class. You must also turn in a PDF of your presentation—with a complete bibliography.
The typeface you choose for this project was also be the subject of your poster project.
Remember: 10% of your grade is deducted if you are late!
Project Instructions
Your presentation should be at least 20 “slides” written in your own words. Remember: this is about the typeface and not the type designer so don’t dwell on that point. You may quote from other sources as long as those quotes are identified and cited in your bibliography. The presentation must include:
A title slide with the proper name of the typeface. This should also include your name and the class information.
Explanation of the name of the typeface, its classification (Oldstyle, Transitional, etc.).
A brief history of the origins of the typeface, including designer, period of release, other faces by same designer, etc.
Using what you have learned in class and reading, describe the typeface in your own words, including readability, proper use, etc. Describe any problems or limitations in the design of the typeface. (You may use information and even design pieces from your Compare and Contrast Assignment as art for your slides.)
Examples of the typeface in use from either books or web. These can be “pictures”, but pictures of designs with type. There are plenty of images on the web but make sure whatever sample you show that your typeface is the major face not some little thing in the corner. Be careful picking from Fontsinuse.com because they often list type as part of a design that is actually inconsequential.
Writing Instructions
It would be wise to create an outline first. Keep your slide text simple but complete. Someone should be able to read the presentation later and understand what you intended. That said, bullet points are fine. No need to write a textbook.
Add a bibliography that lists all of your sources; the more the better. Also remember that not everything online is a reliable or accurate information source.
