Review your professor’s feedback from Weeks 5’s Rough Draft before you submit your Final Draft.
Step One: Review the graphic organizer and rubric, located on the course main page. Remember that you are NOT selecting a new topic for this paper! Unless your professor approves a new topic, use the same topic that you selected in Week 1.
Step Two: Begin writing your draft version. Whether you prefer to start with an outline, free-writing, or a concept map is up to you, but keep in mind that a rough outline and a guide for writing section II of the essay (Elements of Thought) have been provided for you. What you submit is not an annotated bibliography and not an outline, but rather a research paper. Your completed LDR 201 Essay Draft must be written in essay format and follow MLA formatting. It will include a separate Works Cited page with at least six credible sources, have at least 750 words of text, and fully develop your approved topic from previous weeks.
First, make sure to review the MLA formatting video (and other useful links found in the Student Resources and in our class) and follow these general formatting guidelines:
MLA Format (including a separate Works Cited Page)
Number of Paragraphs: (at least) 5 typed paragraphs
Font Type: Times New Roman
Font Size: 12 point
Margins: 1 inch on all sides
Spacing: Double-spacing
Justification: Left (not full)
Word Count (excluding the Works Cited page): 750 words
Paragraph Indentation: Use the Tab key to indent all paragraphs one half-inch from the left margin
First Page Heading: Your name, your instructor’s name, the course number, and the date (day month year) left aligned
Upload the assignment as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) document using the following naming protocol: LastNameFirstNameFinalEssay
Step Three: Use the GMC Online Campus tutoring (link is located on main page) if you need assistance writing your essay!
Step Four: Submit your Final Draft Essay.
Note: The LDR 201 Week 7 Final Draft Essay should have a Turnitin Similarity Index of less than 20% after your Works Cited page is omitted. If your Turnitin Similarity Index is greater than 20%, you will be required to review and update your essay by paraphrasing the passages and/or properly quoting the source(s). Be sure to avoid lengthy quotations. You may re-submit your paper to Turnitin until your Similarity Index is less than 20%. Failure to have a Similarity Index of 20% or less will have a negative impact on your grade and could result in your name being submitted to the Student Honor Council. Note, submitting a paper (or parts of a paper) you used in another course is not allowed and is considered plagiarism. Contact your professor if you have any questions or concerns. Make sure to review the Student Resources if you need help with Turnitin Submissions.
