Select the topic of your final paper by choosing one of the following items of cultural heritage: Benin Bronzes Elgin Marbles/Parthenon Marbles/Parthenon Sculptures Kennewick Man/Ancient One Rosetta Stone Identify four credible sources and provide an APA Style citation and brief annotation for each source. Each annotation should contain a short summary of the source in your own words and a statement about how the source will support your paper’s topic. Check the UAGC Library’s Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources resource for help with identifying credible sources. For instructions and examples of formatting reference list entries for different types of sources, check the Writing Center’s APA: Formatting Your References List resource. To review sample annotations, check the Writing Center’s Annotated Bibliography resource. Draft the introductory paragraph of your paper. In this paragraph, identify the item you will discuss and the main aspects of the controversy about its ownership. Conclude with a thesis statement that makes an argument in the third person about the ownership of the item. See Writing a Thesis Statement and First vs. Third Person from the Writing Center for assistance. The argument should reflect your personal position. Discuss two opposing positions about the ownership of the item you have chosen. For each position, describe the position, identify who supports the position, and include citations of the sources that provide information about that position. In this step, you should include in-text citations for a minimum of two sources (one for each of your positions). For instructions and examples of formatting in-text citations in APA Style, check the Writing Center’s APA: Citing Within Your Paper resource.
