You will analyse any media information in relation to strategic human resources management (SHRM) and any of the material that we cover in class.
You must use articles published between 1st January 2024 – 24th May 2024 in some of the following sources:
– The Sydney Morning Herald
– The Australian Financial Review
– The Economist
You can use articles from the same source or a combination of different sources.

You must include the media articles in your reference list and as an appendix (not just a link).
The objective of this assignment is for you to become aware of SHRM issues in the media (real-life); and how they relate to our learning activities in this subject. Therefore, do not provide a description of the media articles (that’s the summary). You must use/integrate them in your discussions. This is not about a description of the media articles.
Please keep in mind that this is a Strategic Human Resource Management unit. You MUST integrate/link concepts/theories concerning SHRM with the issues/challenges presented in your media articles. Demonstrating integration and understanding of these links is essential in this task.
References
You have to use one (1) media article per discussion.
You have to use at least 3 different academic articles per discussion (at least 3 per discussion = at least 12 in total). The academic sources MUST be ONLY from the provided list (see list below). You must distinguish clearly between your own words/analysis and those of your sources using APA style. The reference list will not count towards your final word count.
You can also use the book as another source in your references. However, this is not compulsory and will not count as an academic source. You still need at least 12 academic articles. If you use the book, you can cite it in more than one discussion.
References (at least 12 academic articles + media articles + book). This reference list must be done using APA 7th Edition.
Do not provide separate reference lists or separate list for journals and media articles. All your sources must be included in just 1 reference list.
Do not provide a collection of quotes (that’s a FAIL). You need to provide discussions/analysis.
Failure to provide appropriate citations is plagiarism.
Structure & Formatting
You MUST use the template provided.
You MUST provide a 300 words summarising your four (4) media articles. This summary is not included in the word count.
No need for Introduction/conclusion.
You must keep a balance in your discussions. 500-600 words per discussion.
You can use articles from the same source or a combination of different sources.
For example:
Discussion 1: Media article 1 from SMH
Discussion 2: Media article 2 from The Economist
Discussion 3: Media article 3 from The AFR
Discussion 4: Media article 4 from SMH
The document should be typed using a standard font (e.g. Times New Roman, Calibri, Arial) with a font size of 12. It must be 1.5 line spaced.
Appendix: You must include a copy of your four (4) media articles. NOT just a URL link.
