Written case studies will contain the following information. The sections and subsections should be
clearly identified. 
Section 1: Identification
Name: Name of the disease/injury (to include medical name, common name if applicable, and
any medical abbreviations for it)
Etiology: Define/describe the cause of the disease or injury
Description: Define and describe disease/injury
Symptoms: List the symptoms/manifestations of the disease/injury 
Section 2: Treatment/Prognosis
Treatment: Outline the usual treatment of the disease/injury
Prognosis: Outline the prognosis for the patient with this disease/injury 
Section 3: Imaging
Modalities: List all the usual (the ones commonly used) modalities in the imaging department to
initially diagnose the disease/injury. MUST INCLUDE 3 IMAGING MODALITIES SUCH AS PET SCAN, MRI, CT. 1 MODALITY MUST BE X-RAY. 
Exam/Study:
1. Describe the study/exam that would be performed to demonstrate the disease/injury
a. Give a brief description of the exam (not details just an overview)
b. List any special consideration with the exam in order to demonstrate the
disease/injury
i. For example- contrast needed, specific views needed, patient comfort
measure. (like ulnar deviation for scaphoid)
c. Indicate any special concerns and/or cautions the technologist should take when
performing the procedure.
i. These include things related to patient safety and comfort and
technologist/public safety
ii. For example: PPEs, sterile environment, etc…
2. Identify how the attenuation of x-rays would be affected (additive, destructive, or no affect)
and what technique changes would be required if any.
Radiographic Appearance 
1. Describe the radiographic appearance of the disease/injury in written format.
2. Demonstrate the disease/injury on a radiographic images with markings indicating the
significant areas that demonstrate the findings.
3. Include at least 2 annotated images showing pathology. One image should be a radiograph. 
Bonus Information: Report
4. If you are able to locate a report, give an example of how an imaging report would read for
the findings. This will give you bonus points as outlined on the rubric.
Section 4: References
Using APA format create a reference page which list all reference for your paper. Be sure you use
creditable medical references.
