a. You must include a title page and bibliography both of which should be formatted
according to Turabian and neither of which count towards the minimum/max pages of
the paper (10%).
b. Your paper will be between six (minimum) and seven (maximum) pages (double spaced),
12–point Times New Roman font. You may not go over the max and must exceed the
minimum to receive full credit. Also, writing on the sixth page is not six full pages. Six full
pages means six full pages of content at the minimum (10%).
c. Each page has the page number centered on the bottom of the page in the footer.
d. The paper which accounts for 20% of your grade will contain the following sections
delineated by enumerated headers:
1. The Problem (25%): This includes (not limited to) a 1–2 paragraph discussion
identifying why this is an important issue in Christian ethics and in society in
general. All major points of view should be presented in summary with clarity and
precision in this section. By “problem”, I mean, “why is this a debated topic?”
2. Relevant Sources of Authority (25%): What are the relevant sources of
authority on this issue? Include and write out at least 4 (four) biblical passages
that are relevant to the issue. If the passage is a long one you can give the
reference and summarize why it’s important. Also, you must cite 4 (four) of the
most influential authors you can find from contemporary ethics sources. Each
side of the debate should be represented in your relevant sources. These citations
must be properly footnoted in the body of the paper and included at the end of the
paper in a Turabian formatted bibliography (does not count toward
minimum/max).
3. Position Statement (30%): This section integrates the Bible, ethical sources,
and your prayerful and thoughtful consideration together into an essay expressing
why you hold the position you do. Use appropriately formatted footnotes.
