In no fewer than 1000 words, and using either or both of the Shirley Jackson sto

In no fewer than 1000 words, and using either or both of the Shirley Jackson stories we read, (The Lottery and The Possibility of Evil), write an Argument Essay with research answering your choice of one of the following questions:
1 – In “The Lottery,” conformity and tradition seem to go hand in hand. Is conformity necessary for societies to hold together or can societies thrive with divergence from tradition? Is tradition important for it’s own sake? Are traditions necessary to unify a culture or society?
OR
2 – In “The Possibility of Evil,” Miss Strangeworth sows discord in her small town through the anonymous notes she sends to her neighbors making accusations based on her suspicions rather than facts. Does our social media facilitate this type of behavior and how? How destructive is this behavior to society? Can or should it simply be ignored?
Develop your essay using the basic features of a research paper. Remember to include argument in your introduction, in the form of your thesis. Support your stance with three points in the body of your paper. Be sure to restate your thesis and finish strong with your conclusion!
Important: For this paper you are required to use one or both of the Jackson short stories in this section for this module as sources and (2) additional academic sources from the Library database of journals or the library.
You should format your paper in MLA style and use MLA in-text citations and include the Works Cited page to document the article you’re responding to.
For help with MLA, see the “Writing Resources” link in Blackboard.
Also, please include a word count at the end of your essay but before your Works Cited page.
Your essay will be evaluated on the following criteria:
How clear and focused the thesis statement is
How well the essay conforms to the basic features of a research paper
How well citations are integrated into the essay
How well the argument is supported with reasonable assertions and evidence
How well the essay uses clear, coherent, and correct sentences
How well the essay conforms to MLA documentation Includes the required sources
Includes a Works Cited page in MLA format (which will not be counted towards a page count)
After the last sentence of your essay, type in the word count.
