Please follow the attached PDF assignment instructions (with rubric) entitled “Capstone.” The paper must be based on the theoretical foundation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have also attached a Word document entitled “Client L.R.” with the information and presenting issues for the writer to base this paper on. All sections of the paper must be explained in the context of the client (a 22-year-old African American cis-gender female) and their presenting issues. Please include A LOT of in-text citations as my prof highlights the importance of not writing more than a few sentences without citation and be sure to include all cited sources in the references section of the paper. All cited sources should be from within the past 5 years when possible and not more than 7 years unless you are referencing the seminal works of Steven C. Hayes who developed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Also please ensure ALL sources are peer-reviewed (either published in scientific journals or published books) and not information from websites like Psychology Today. I uploaded a textbook on case conceptualizations by Sperry and Sperry that is required reading for my practicum course. Chapter 10 focuses on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy case conceptualizations and will be a great resource for the writing of the paper.
Please keep the focus on the client’s depressive symptoms and use the information in the Client’s History and Presenting Issues section of the Word Document I provided to help you write your own, more articulate section on the client. For the “Treatment Plan” section of the paper, 1-2 goals for therapy need to be identified and I will leave it up to you to identify goals based on the client information I provided and guided by the research you do. Please ensure the client’s difficulties (specifically symptoms and problems in living) and treatment goals align with the selected theoretical foundation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. And for the “Treatment Plan’ section make up how these goals were discussed with the client. The examples of conceptualizations in the Sperry & Sperry textbook can help you determine treatment goals such as accept pain as part of life while working toward valued goals, reduce depressive symptoms and increase socialization.
Also for the section on “Cultural Sensitivity and Implications” section, just a reminder that the client is a 22-year-old cis-gender African American female and it will help you to know for this I am a white, middle-aged cis-gender female.
