This is my research question :
Short and Long Term Impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic on university Students
2. Identify your independent and dependent variables and define them.
Independent : covid 19 pandemic short and long term effects
dependent : university student’s education
3. List any other variables you might need to consider when investigating this topic.
Psychological impacts on students
social impacts on students
It needs editing and this is the feed back : 1. Start with an interesting opening – use data, statistic, incident – that catches the reader’s eye (__0_____/1 points) 2. You must summarize the arguments of each peer-reviewed scholarly work you are using and show how it connects to your own research. In other words, to convince your reader that the audience needs to know more about the topic/question you have posed because previous research has not looked at this issue in this particular way that you are proposing to. You want to convince your reader that your research question is “grounded” in previous research. In other words, while we may not know the answer to the question you raise, there is information out there to suggest that your question is important and linked to things we do know. And, most importantly that your study improves upon past studies, that your study fills obvious holes left by the others. Thus, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each scholarly work and show how your research builds on it. (__4.5___/4.5points) 3. A detailed statement of the research question that informed the project. (You must not forget to conceptualize and operationalize your research question again here) (___1__/1 point) 4. A brief explanation of rationale – why is your research project of interest to sociologists (the “so what” factor). What literature/theoretical gap does it fill? In other words, why is your subject/topic interesting and what use is to the society? (__1__/1.5 points) 5. Follow ASA in-text citation. (You will find the ASA style guide included in this week’s module) (___1__/2 points)
for final submission, start with an interesting data or statistic about the topic to draw the reader in. Use ASA citation. and also provide what your reseasrch study will do that previous ones have not.
Additional info:
This is the format for your write up. It is in the instructions when you click on the assignment itself. If you follow this format, it will naturally be about 5 pages given the ASA formatting. I will put up a sample paper from last semester just above the assignment so that might help you.
Step 3: Source Review Report
Your review will begin with an introductory paragraph:
A. Statement of the Problem: Begin with a statement of the problem. This should be one paragraph that is concise and focused. In it, you will state your research question explicitly and briefly summarize (in 2-3 sentences) the type of research that has been done previously to the topic.
B. Then to follow, for each of your three sources, you will complete the following:
Summary: You will then write a brief summary in your own words for each of the four articles. This should include the research questions/hypotheses, methods, sampling designs, population of interest, findings, and author interpretations.
Comparison: In this section, you will discuss similarities and differences between the articles in terms of their methodological approaches and any patterns or discrepancies in the findings that they report.
Relevance: Finally, show how these studies are related to your RPP. That is, how are the methods and findings of these studies relevant or useful for your proposed study? How will these articles influence your decisions with regard to the methods you’ll choose?
C. References: Finally, you will need to include a Reference Section. Your paper, and your references must also be done in ASA format.
